Context:

The Guided Fate Paradox is a dungeon crawler role-playing video game developed and published by Nippon Ichi Software for the PlayStation 3. It was released in Japan on January 24, 2013 and is expected to be localized for North America and Europe in Q3 2013. The game is described to being a spiritual successor to NIS's earlier PSP title Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman.

Premise:

The game follows Renya, a boy who wins a raffle drawing that gives him divine powers. His new mission then becomes to alter and affect the fates people that pray to him.

Gameplay:

Gameplay is described as having traits similar to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series and features customization options. Cinderella makes an appearance as a character, expressing her discontent with the happy ending associated with her fairy tale.

Extra Info:

The game was originally revealed in Japan on July 11, 2012 as a 20th anniversary commemorative for Nippon Ichi Software. It was also developed largely by the same team behind the Disgaea series, while Noizi Ito worked as the game's character designer and Y?sei Teikoku composed the music.

My Thoughts:

I'm looking forward to this game. It's made by the Disgaea team so I'll probably enjoy it more than most of their other more obscure titles. It's being made to mark the 20th anniversary of Nippon Ichi Software so I'm sure it's going to be both a big deal and a new IP going forward.

Just got this game (as you know), I'm really liking it a lot so far, ESPECIALLY the humor!

Feels cool being a God instead of a Devil (Laharl) this time too.

I see people calling this a "roguelike" and some say it's not a roguelike.  Is it a roguelike or not?  :?

Even though it's a dungeon crawler by definition, it's a roguelike by features and follows enough of the rules of the roguelike genre for it to be classed as one.

People that say it isn't a roguelike have nit-picky reasoning like "it's not hard enough" when NIS America already said they were looking to target new players by making it more beginner-friendly. It still becomes brutal later on but has an easier start than most roguelike's out there.

Ah I see, thanks for explaining.  This will be my first "roguelike" game then.  I think.
