IIRC, they didn't bring 1 and 2 back to the PSN because of some voice acting stuff. But then again don't hold me to that because I also thought that if companies were to release ports of PSX games onto the PSN, they had to do so without editing any of the coding of the games. So if there was a bug from the first one, you would be able to recreate is exactly like it was but on the PS3. Audio and graphical glitched too.

Like I said, I don't know how true any of the above information is.

I too heard about that, according to the rumor Capcom doesn't have the rights to use the original voice actors they had back in the day, and those people are probably busy with other projects anyway. It would be cool if they did this but you know how Capcom has been treating MM... >_> It'll never happen at this point anytime soon at least.

MechaGS

I don't really understand the whole no-rights to the voice track as the actors were paid to provide voices for that game. Usually, when a game developer gets voice actors, they own the resulting voice track when it's completed and the actors can no longer stake in it, only benefit from royalties.

Much like how every Final Fantasy could be released 50 times over cause Square Enix own the voice tracks. It's a weird situation Capcom have themselves in if they weren't making sure that clause was in their contracts.

Well they couldn't have them do the voices again because IIRC, whoever voiced Mega Man Volnutt is now a grown ass man.

And in terms of owning voice tracks, I think you're right but it comes down to what's in the contract. For instance yes, Capcom might still have the original recordinds stashed somewhere (though unlikely), but Capcom paid those VAs to use those tracks in a specific way--i.e. the game. The voice actors wouldn't be entitled to any monetary compensation since it only states they got paid for the PSX version of the product.

Reboots, remakes, and re-releases are kind of a grey area still. To be honest, copyright laws and how intellectual properties are handled are often times stupid as all get out.

You think that logic would've made Square-Enix replace Haley Joel Osment with a new VA for Sora from Kingdom Hearts, but nope, 11 years on and he's still there, and Sora sounds way older than he actually is.

TheRaven

Oh geez could you imagine if they got the original voice cast for a remake, Volnutt would sound so strange. :V Still, didn't the second game have a different cast? I can't remember if it did or not, i'm so tired I can barely think :S

MechaGS

I think it was a different cast. I don't remember really though, I'd need to go back and check. :)

If I remember correctly Mega Man Volnutt (Trigger) was voiced by two different people.  The latter being an old lady lol.

I personally can't understand how anybody can be a Mega Man fan and not list the classic series in their top three :p  Not a diss or anything, I just can't comprehend it haha.  Mega Man 2 for god's sake.  Mega. Man. 2!

I really enjoy playing the classic series, the X series, and Legends on a regulra basis.  Having the collectors sedition for the first two makes it really easy.  I was also very surprised as to how much I loved the MMBN series.  The new elements aded to that series just makes it a game I still play on long trips, when I'm not the one driving of course.  Admittedly the Zero series is the series I have played the least along with he PSP games and the ZX series.
