Should the X series resume or reboot?

IIRC, It was said long ago that the X series should've end at X5 according to Inafune-san. But seems Capcom's higher-ups have other ideas...

It's typical of big-business to milk on something even if it should have ended (Call of Duty anyone?) a long time ago.



What I don't get though is why X had to be continued instead of a new canon spin-off being added; always boggled the mind. It's not like Inafune-san ever seemed short of ideas for Mega Man.

New IP's do worse then old ones, and that also happens with spin offs. Sure, Battle Network and Zero did fine, but Starforce, Legends and ZX did poorly.



And at that point, the spinoff's they had done were X and Legends, and X was far more successful.

The Zero series was a direct sequel in the far future to the X series.

I'd rather have a conclusion for the X series before jumping right into the next.
