Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is an upcoming third-person combat game in the Ninja Gaiden franchise by Tecmo Koei. Keiji Inafune is involved with the project, providing character designs and creating the character of Yaiba. The game is in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows.

Context:

The game stars the powerful Yaiba Kamikaze, an antagonistic ninja who once belonged to a clan whom he massacred, viewing them as cowardly. At some point Yaiba engages in battle with franchise protagonist Ryu Hayabusa, losing his left eye and arm, along with his "life". He was resurrected as a cyborg by a mysterious organization, having to quell a zombie plague in exchange for the power he needs to take his revenge on Ryu.

Gameplay:

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z was officially unveiled on September 19, 2012. It was revealed that, along with Team Ninja, Keiji Inafune would be involved as the director of this new Ninja Gaiden title. On June 6, a new trailer appeared on GT.TV that featured a full motion video sequence, along with a short snippet of real-time gameplay.

On October 8, it was announced that Ninja Gaiden Z would be released on Microsoft Windows through the Steam platform. This would make it the first time that a Ninja Gaiden title was released on the platform in the history of the franchise.

Canadian comic book artist James Stokoe has created several art pieces for the game, displaying them at the New York Comic Con. The game is also complimented by a tie-in webcomic, published by Dark Horse Comics. It was drafted by writers Tim Seeley and Josh Eamons, and illustrated by Rafael Ortiz. The comic was released as a free download on Dark Horse's website.

My Thoughts:

A game made with Inafune-san's help with a Beck costume in it... how can I refuse such a title!  Plus, I love Ninja Gaiden games so this one should be an gruesomely awesome pass-time.

Still debating which platform to get it on though. Will think on it until near release I think.

I could copypaste what i wrote about Yaiba in the official forums, but it's not worth it.

In a nutshell, it falls too short to the name Ninja Gaiden but i might give it a try when it's cheaper.

I was really excited for this game, but after watching that trailer, my hopes were shot down, and stomped on. The game is no longer appealing anymore to me.

If I may just make one comment, that protag speaks as eloquently as Don'te.
