This thread is for co-op games or games with cooperative play/modes you have enjoyed/you like.

You can also posts details (such as if the cooperative play is for the full game or only certain modes, if it's split-screen or multiplayer, etc).

Have fun.

Alright, me first.

Feel free to post a brief description, images and/or footage if you want.

This is one hell of a third person shooter. I've spent countless hours playing this with a friend.

Believe me when i tell you it can be quite challenging, and players share the damage, which encourages cooperation and not rushing recklessly.

When my brother was over a xmas, we gave this a whirl again for the first time in nearly 8 years. Was amazing! :D

This one is simply amazing, and it's one of the very few split-screen co-op racing games out there.

Includes customization (using the money won from races), catchy music, and it can be moderately lengthy depending how good the drivers are.

and Contra Hard Corps for Genesis (known in Europe as Probotector for Mega Drive)

Don't even bother with the other Contra games, just play this one.

TheRaven

I love the Golden Axe series, it's one of my favorites on the Genesis. <3 Now this is my favorite co-op game on the Genesis, with the second game in the series being my favorite.

Swan Dive

I'd have to rank the Mana series (SoM3) as #1 coop games. TMNT was always a blast too! It's funny how most of the posts are ARE of old games. The classics had some great coop! :)

I spent nearly my entire life looking for good coop games. Finding a good one is pretty tough nowadays. Since everything is "MMO" now, finding a good coop game is even harder. I heard Dragon's Crown is one of the best in a while.

I'm a sucker for the arcade games. Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Warriors of Fate, Die Hard, Aliens vs. Predators, Mega Man Power Battle, and my number one favorite, the double-screened X-Men arcade game.

You can never have too much uuUUWWWOOOAAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!

TheCloudyEye

How come no one mentioned this classic:

Needless to say, this game has ruined many friendships. Best played alone.

It's not that unusual. Back then arcades were still relevant in the west so the idea of having co-op in video games was seen as a big plus in general.

Nowadays modern games' direction seems more focused on online multiplayer (and ways to milk the users with microtransactions related to online modes) of the versus type rather than co-op.

There're exceptions though, like Halo, Gears of War, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil 6 (A failed Gears wannabe-survival action hybrid) and Dragon's Crown (which emulates the style of D&D Shadow over Mystara, a Capcom arcade beat'em up).

Dragon's Crown has a better combat system than most games of its style but it's quite easy (until you reach the latest difficulties and areas, which kick your ass and include harder monsters, etc), so it's the kind of game you'd want to play more than once with friends.

Adding more games:

Guardian Heroes

Gunstar Heroes

Trauma Center: New Blood

New Super Mario Bros Wii/U

Monster Hunter series (online)

God Eater series (online)

Swan Dive

Spyro Dawn of the Dragon is easily one of the best more modern Coop experiences. Also Baldur's Gate 2 (old game again) is not only challenging, but very fun with friends (if it doesn't crash or bug out anyway).

Rick_56267

Mario Kart (versus mode) was so much fun with my two cousins, and when our class made a class trip to Great Britain ( I?m from Germany) we all played together and noone knew who I was ;D

Mario & Sonic at the olympic wintergames ( DS) also with my cousins

Swan Dive

I'd always play Coop Mario Kart with friends, we would take turns getting first and second place. :) The battle mode was a blast though, but I always won so it got boring. I heard the DS version of Mario Kart has actual Coop, though I never was able to try it.
