The Mega Man franchise has many different series each with different gameplay mechanics and storylines. But which one stands above the rest of them? I love the X series the most, the increased difficulty makes it fun and challenging while the soundtracks are filled with awesome hardcore music that keeps you wanting to play more. My favorite character in this series is Zero, while my favorite game is X4. My second favorite is probably the Classic series as I started with Mega Man 8. It was that game that got me into the franchise as a whole. The Legends series is my third favorite and will always hold a special place in my heart since my grandma got me the game at the age of 10 and she's no longer here with us anymore. :( Plus I have so many good memories playing the game, and I made a new friend due to the game too. xD She saw that I loved video games and started hanging out with me. As for the other series they are fun, some I haven't even played yet. (Megaman Starforce, I still have yet to play any games in this series.) While I just started playing Battle Network I find it to be a fun RPG, and the Zero series is fun as well but I haven't played much of the first game.

My favorite would be the Classic series and I also liked X and X6. Eventually, I plan on getting around all the series (except Starfoce and Xover).

That's a hard one. I like the game play of the X series the best, and I really like the Zero series game play, but Zero is so hard that I have to say X.

You've joined me in my choice of the X series. Although, I do love the Battle Network series too; the X series is my favorite Mega Man series.

Unfortunately, I never did get to play the Legends series and I'm interested to see what I've missed out on. Will need to look them up.

Starforce may not have been as good as the other series, but I think it deserves looking at. It is pretty similar yet a bit different to the Battle Network series similar to Zero > ZX. I would avoid the second game, though.

That's something I need to do as well. Part of why I haven't played it yet is that the game looks so different than what I am used to with Mega Man, but I have a playstation so I really ought to find a disc on amazon or ebay.

Dr. Light

It would be a toss up between the Classic and X series, with Legends coming after :)

Pretty much what Dr. Light said, although I fear with the high price and (sort-of) rarity of PAL Legends/Legends 2 copies, I fear that I will never get to play the Legends series. Also, I won't emulate them because I'm one of those people who feels that if a game deserves my money, I should nit be emulating it. (Plus I can't seem to get a PS1 emulator to work anyway so...yeah)

I'm the same way, I prefer to own the games I play. I'm not big on emulation as I feel that sitting at the PC doesn't immerse me enough.

I was hoping they'd release the games on PSN as PS1 classics but they didn't so I guess I'm stuck for now.

I heard a while back that the problem with rereleasing the game is that there's some copyright issues with the voices, but I don't know the details.

Oh well, I've promised myself that I'd get them eventually and put them with the rest of the collection. Will take a while but it'll be great when I get to that point.

TheRaven

I love the Legends series, if anything you could check out Mega Man 64 which is the first game. The only game I don't own and have never played in the Legends series is The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. (It's one of the rarest games to find! Dx) I paid $70 something just to get a copy of the second game in the series without the jewel case or booklet. >_>

MechaGS

Yeah, the Legends series really is just going to have to wait. I seen a copy of the original for ?120 without the case or manual so it's all rather pricey.

One day though, one day. :P

TheRaven

My grandmother got me a copy of the first one back in 2000, so I guess I got lucky. :P I just bought the second one not too long ago. I'm stuck on the final boss though. :V Speaking of the first game I finally finished it back in 2009 as it took me a very long time to save up enough Zenny to max out the active buster. >_>

supernet2

I've played all of the Megaman Legend series up to MML2, i still have my megaman legends 1 & 2 discs, although their scratched up to hell, they've seen some heavy use. Still got the misadventures of tron bonne, the one that had a demo of megaman legends secretly hidden in the start up menu, for ps1.

Im surprised the ps1 games are so legendary. I still use them to rip images out of them and then port it to my phone so i can play ps1 ports on my htc one.

Also got all the SNES megaman series, and then the n64 version never got my hands on, was able to play a copy when i rented it years ago though.

Hands down favorite series was the Legend series though, opened my eyes to 3D world exploring, and play.

Played all the ZX series, and also all the Gameboy color megaman games, also the megaman advanced series for gameboy advance.

I also played all the megaman battle network series.

I'd halfta say starforce is the only megaman series i've never really played.

All in all though i halfta go with the megaman legends series being my No. 1 favorite.

If were going for secondaries it would be the megaman X series for SNES, and then 3rd would be the megaman ZX series.

Also theirs many more series i haven't mentioned but i've played all the newer ones up to 2010 and then i dropped off from playing newer megaman games, thats really the jist. lol to many names to remember

Aren't the Nintendo 64 and PC ports of Mega Man Legends really bad?
