Nice one Raven, always good info to have!

It seems that the podcast will come once a month. Here's hoping we get some dev's on it eventually as it's actually being done by an outside agency so we've got to take what they say with a grain of salt.

Either way, it's cool having a podcast to listen too. :)

TheRaven

Oh I didn't even know that, but I'm sure they will have interviews with the devs eventually probably most likely towards the release date. :) Since the devs themselves are most likely busy working on the project and getting things together to share with the beckers and fans it'll probably be difficult for them to talk. ;)

MechaGS

This was pointed out in the podcast and I love it, check it out!

Also, we can now watch the entire PAX video. Watch it here:

TheRaven

I love that piano piece, I listened to that yesterday and thought it was very beautiful. I will watch the video a bit later though, haven't seen it yet. :) Thank you for sharing this!

Jay C

I've got the podcast downloaded and have those times built into the metadata in the lyrics section. I've got it ready on iTunes, I just haven't sat down and taken the time to listen to it.

Weejus

I listened to the podcast a few days ago and enjoyed it but I feel it would be better if some of the MN9 staff (I think Ben Judd is appearing on it soon) took part in it. However, I know they're very busy with, y'know, actually making the game (I think they expressed interest in having Inafune himself on the final podcast) and I wouldn't want the podcast to hinder the game's development.

MechaGS

I think what could happen is we'll have special guests at particular points throughout development so that they can use them as talking points in the podcast. There was a game that did that but can't remember which right now.

I enjoyed the first podcast too though. Looking forward to the next. :)

Hope there'll be a transcript of the Q and A, so non-podcast listeners will know what were the questions chosen to replied on.

I would bow down at a stranger if that was the case. And if they include chapters with embedded subscripts on the audio file, will lay for free that night.

But it is already 2014-01-30 here. Maybe they are editing a lot.

Bonus points if they use this:

It's here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mi ... sts/731412

No transcript. Got a 404 on the audio file.

Here is a review draft of Imaeda-san's Q&A transcript I made under the CC BY-NC-SA license for now. You can edit & append what I missed, esp. add the the edited version, and briefs. If wanted Comcept to use this, or any company, they need to PM me to talk about fees. Enjoy:

JJefferson 84

John Ricciardi 99 (84 account)

Hiroko 39

Mark 123

3:39 8-4 (Mark) says comcept made website/forum (not external company)

15:50 Mark reports question, Hiroko translates answer

Q1: A lot of people catching on, I think you mentioned on the last update that you are working on the story of the game. A lot of people are asking questions about the story, kinda like the general feel of the story, kinda what you are going for the story, um, darker, more comic, lighter, that kind of thing. Can you talk a little bit about the form, the direction, what's been happening with the story, kind of, since we last talked about it during the Kickstarter campaign?

A1: The information that, um, we have been putting up on the forums are mainly about the 3 doctors, and um, so right now what I am doing is that um, I am creating the background story for, um, these 3 doctors, so like, what kind , umf, company/corporation they belong to and, um, that kind of stuff. And, um, what we are trying to do with the story is that, we don't want it to be a simple good-guy-beats-the-bad-guy kind of story, we want a serious touch to it. So, um, that's basically what I am working on it right now

JJ side note: While Inafune-san is not incredibly happily about that, right? Is that, is that, implying that maybe Inafune is not so big on serious stories?

Hiroko's note: Well no, um, is not Inafune, it's not the case. But, um, Inafune-san is like scolding Imaeda-san for the quality, like bring up the quality?

Q2: Are you getting specific, do you get specific notes from Inafune-san similar to how the notes that sort of KimoKimo gets from, um, the art work, kinda of like: "Try it more like this," or "try this element," or is it more just kind af "Do better" feedback.

A2: I am rethinking, um, a lot, umf, details comments, not only details, but, um, first,  the kind of stuff he comments on. Let's say I show him the story, and then, um, there's people appear on the story, and so, what he asks me is that, um, how do these people, how do these character think? And, um, so, um, so he always questions me: "Are you thinking about, like, the depth of the story in that kind of way?" Like thinking about the character's characters, like how they thik, what is their motivation, and all of those kind of things. So yes, it is super, super, detailed, um, comments, and stuff that, um, well some times, you know, normally you would not be thinking about it; when are creating story.

Forum Users:

Q3: (Mighty No. 35472 Gold) If the game is going to have any voice acting?

Q4: (Mighty No. 45173 Zynk) If there will be cutscenes in the game?

A4: Let me first answer about the cutscenes. So, um, when it is necessary, we would like to add cutscenes into the game. However, we would like to add them in a way, um, the players don't have to stop, like, pause their game. So basically, um, what we are trying to do is try to, um, not break the, um, natural game flow. So let's say, um, when characters are, um, communicating/talking with each other, like maybe have, like a natural way of to have a cutscene in there, or maybe in the background when, um, we wanted explain the story in the background we would have a cutscenes in there. So, um, but, um, we are working right now is trying to figure a way to add, a natural way, to add cutscene into the game.

Mark side question: While still being able to kind of play the game? Like like, so like the cutscene is going on the background, but you are still playing the game, sort of thing?

A4s: What I meant was, um, is not, is not like the cutscene is going on the background. But more like, um, let's say you are in a city, and there's a like a monitor on building, you will see something going on the monitor. Or let's say there's, um, um,  camp, um, in background, and you see, like um, you see, uh, cars with the weapons, like tanks, um, moving in the back-background, and you see like where the tanks are headed, and that would be hint, um, of the story for you, like in that kind of way.

A3: So, um, I am thinking that voice, um, will probably be necessary.

Q5: (Mighty No. 58518 Wesker) Is there any chance, those discarded "Calls," to find life?

A5: First of all, um, I would like to thank everybody for loving all the "Calls" out there. Um, it's great, um, that, um, all the "Calls" are receiving this much love. And so, um, to answer the question, um, we do not have a specific plan yet, but, um, it seems like, um, people out there are calling "Call D" Milly. So, um, actually Inafune, mister Inafune, has been giving me, um, like requests how to, um, to have "Call D"/Milly show up in the game. So, um, I am trying, um, really hard right now to be able to implemement her into the story.

Q6: What can you talk about in general about the, um, gameplay so far of the game, now that it is playable?

What's happened since the Kickstarter ended and, um kind of, the current state of the game, um, and general or specific you can of about where the gameplay and controls are at?

A6: During the Kickstarter campaing we were only able to describe the game in writing. So now, um, we are, um, so basically, the basic gameplay is you fight against the/an enemy, and you'll, um, absorb, um, the enemy. So, um, that's the basic, game, um, gameplay, but, um, now all of that is coming to reality, is starting to move on screen. And so Inti Creates are doing ah fantastic job right now. So, um, they listen to what we want in the game, and they actually make it happen. They, um, do, um, their magic, and um, they make it happen. So, um, the game is turning to look, um, very good. And, um, it is their speed, um, and aggressiveness is something that, um, is, um, really outshining and playable right now?

Q7: Um, so there's talk about a dash move. What part does that play in the game, and what do you exactly do you do? Like is there anything special or is it just a regular dash? Or can you explain a little more about that?

A7: But that is not actually not a simple dash move. Um, what is does it dashes into, um, the enemy to absorb their ability. So what is does is that, um, you attack, then you dash, and then you absorb the enemy's ability. And so the gameplay is actually, um, starting to really happen with that movement?

Q8: One of other moves that um, we shown off in the screenshots was kind of Beck hanging from the ledge. Can you tell me a little about that, and how that works on the gameplay, what the thinking was on that?

A8: The hanging movement? Um, it's not comcept's idea. It's actually Inti Creates' idea. So, um, what, that, um, movement, um, gives, ah, the player, um, is that, um, from the hanging movement, um, Beck could, um, jump, and then, um, jump off to the next fall. Or, um, Beck could hang unto something to avoid, um, bullet. So it gives that's to the action. And, but not just, um, um, giving into the action, um, actually when Beck is hanging on, um, on the ledge, he moves his, um, bangle. And that is actually kind of cute. And so, um, that, that gives character, that gives character, character to Beck. And, um that's another like thing, that um, I am really liking about that movement. And so what we are trying to do right now is not just, um, um, is not put a lot of movement or action into the game. But also giving a reason and giving it a story.

Q9: We saw that Inafune played the build, um, last week. So can you tell us, um, kind of  what, ah-ah-ah. I remember in the update, um, that Nick saying, that he really liked it. But can you talk a little about what he thought of the build, and what his feedback was in general?

A9: If I have to explain it in like a short sentence: He loved it. So of course he is doing a very very detailed check. So, um, as he plays he is trying to see how the game  feels, and like. So his check is really detailed and strict. But, um, while he was doing that, you can tell that he is enjoying, um, like moving Beck around, and so, it seems he is feeling a great, um, like he is, um, felling a great, positive reactions of the game. He is really really, um, satisfied and how, um the game is coming out.

Q10: When-when after Inafune-san played the game, how-how did you feel? Were you just like a big sigh of relief, or, were you just like "Ok next thing, we have to go. Keep going"

A10: I never been, um, He-he's never been as happy, um, as he looked when he played the build. So I was actually super surprised.

Q11: What has been like on the forums? What you guys have seen on the forums? What kind of feedback you've kind of gotten from there? If there's specific ideas you've gotten from there? Or kinda of general feelings, things you might have confirmed that you already thought or things that have surprised you about kind of backers' attitude towards the game so far?

A11: All the, um, members on the team, the dev team, are, um, checking out, um, the forums. And so, um, there are a lot of people who are giving us, um, scenario ideas. Like the one I saw yesterday was, um, they were talking about, ah, like ah, Mighty No. 4, and then also like they are saying, um, since Mighty No. 2 would, um, wet the enemy, and then Mighty No. 3 would, um, electrocute, like a combination from attacks, so I've seeing those. And then there's a lot of people, um um, with a lot of ideas that, um, there are a bunch of ideas out there I am actually thinking "Huh, this is a got idea. I might use this idea in the game." But, um, right now, um we are at the stage of, um, finalizing the basics. So, um, right, we aren't like able, to just take the ideas, um,  at this moment. So, um, we are not making, like um, immediate reactions to those ideas yet. But, um, we are seeing them, and um, there are, um, some good ideas there that, um, we might want to use.

32:59

Q12: Talking about how the mighty numbers might kind of work together. So, um, you kinda of teased in that update that might be something that is, um, something that you, um, part of the back-story, but you hope might go into the game. Um, is that something that you are thinking about, or-or working towards, hoping to include?

A12: Yeah, um, of course we are thinking about having that in the game play. And, um, we-it would be great if we be able to do that. And so, like not just in the cutscenes and demos, but, ac-, in actual gameplay. So let's say like, um, number 4, um, suddenly, um, shows up, and um, walks the way for you or let's number 1, um, comes and burns something down so you can move forward. Like that kind omf game-gameplay, it would be really cool if we could implement it in the game.

Q13 (Mighty No 1463 Raiiban): Different types of gameplay, gamplay mechanics, if, uh,  that is something you guys are working toward?

Are you guys, working on, or maybe just even hoping to include other, uh, styles of gamplay, besides the kind of fast action, uh, shot, grab, dash, shoot, uh, cycle you'd described earlier?

A13: Um, we are, um, thinking about the, um, like, uh, a lot different types of gameplay mechanics. And so, um, it's not only number 8, there's number 1 to number, like mighty number 1 to mighty number 8. So, um, every, um, Mighty number boss has a different ability, so we want to have like different, um, gameplay mechanics for them. So right now we are in the process of talking to Inti Creates to, um, um, to think of, um, these gameplay mechanics.

Q14 (Mighty No. 4668 Florian Bingart): What do you Imaeda-san, when you are done with a long day in the office to kind of rest and recharge, or on the weekends or whatever?

A14: To be honest, um, I have not been able to relax. So like even when I am taking a bath, even when, um, I am asleep. I am half-thinking about the game. But that's the truth, um, but, um, so, what I always try to do to refresh myself is, um, do stuff that I really like, which are like, um, I like-love playing games, I would play games, and uh, I love drinking, so I would drink, I love eating, so I would look up, um, good  restaurants to go do, and eat, um, good type of food. That's the kind of stuff that-that'll do to unwind and refresh myself.

Final remarks from Imaeda-san: Translated By Hiroko

No, um, thank you for guys, um, for having me. So, I think it's really awesome that, um, we get a chance to communicate with the backers like this. And we are loving all the, um, communication that we are having with you guys, so and um, please keep the questions coming, and um, and will, yeah thanks again for having me here. I would like to come back and talk to everybody here again.
