Xbox One Versus PS4

With November getting closer and closer which one do you think will have more sales? Which one are you going to get at some point in time and why? I have a strong feeling that the PS4 will dominate the competition with how much crap Microsoft has pulled with this console, and it isn't even on the shelves yet. xD As for me I find that it would be easier to go with the Xbox One since I have a Xbox Live account and I don't want to lose that service and have to pay for Sony's service as well. If anything though, I'm wanting to get a Wii U before anything else though. ;)

Definitely going for the PS4. Most every game I'm interested in is on PS4. The Xbox seriously lacks any good console exclusives, so the PS4 has the upper hand, imo.

Me and my friends always new that Microsoft would eventually die out and leave the gaming market, but we never expected it to happen this soon.

As for a WiiU I am definitely getting that, though solely to play the new SSB. Pretty much the only reason I want a WiiU at the moment.

I plan on getting a Wii U for Smash 3DS and Wii U, but between the Xbox One and PS4; definitely the latter. The fact that the Xbox One attempted to put out all of these restrictions on us in the first place has soured my relationship with Microsoft. I never intended on getting a Microsoft console, but this has convinced me that I made the right choice.

When I look at Microsoft's under-handedness during their opening presser and the E3 conference... well, I'll never buy another console from them. I still can't believe how many restrictions and rules they tried to pin on people.

I have my PS4 pre-ordered and already have a Wii U so I've chosen my allegiances. Then again, if I want JRPG's (my fav genre) I have to stick with Sony and Nintendo.

I've never really liked the XBOX machines. They've all been shooter based and whilst I've owned the two previous, they never got used as much as the PS2 / PS3 so I've voted for PS4 above.

As much as the PS4 is looking better than the Xbone, I can't really see myself buying it instead of a Wii U, as I don't really like many of Sony's exclusives. The fact that Sony is pushing for it to essentially be Steam in a console with Social Networking and Twitch, which I already have with my PC, doesn't help.

Voted Wii U because Nintendo 4 lyfe, yo.

In all seriousness, I'm remaining optimistic about the Wii U. Pikmin 3 was fantastic, and I feel that the tidal wave of games that should have started in February-March is finally starting to happen. Also, I'm glad to hear that Super Mario 3D World is being pushed up to the week before Black Friday in America, that'll definitely boost sales and allow the system to get some traction. After all, if anything sells a Nintendo system, it's Mario.

To be honest, I don't think gaming is going to get much better than it already is. the jump in processing power/graphics from the SNES to the N64 was huge just like the jump from PSX to the PS2 was phenomenal. Now, we're reaching the ceiling of graphics I believe. We can only push the envelope so much until the advances are hardly noticeable. Today's advancements is just about how much raw power they can push out onto the screen. I mean it would be pretty cool to have a huge amount of enemies with unique A.I.s on the screen at once but that's not really a selling point for me.

With all of that out of the way, my vote is going to go to the PS4. I'll probably buy it way later down the road but I see absolutely no reason to ever buy an XBoxDone (at least that's what I've been calling it). I don't see a need to get a WiiU but I'll save that rant for a different time.

Mighty No. 9

With my vote on PS4 it turned to 9 votes, coincidence?  :beckgladwink

Loving PS4 but I will get a Wii U first!  :beckveryhappy

Ill leave this here! btw.  :beckwink

In regards to graphics/physics, you do have a point there. I can say that I'm already satisfied with what the PS3 has to offer and I'm even more excited to see what the PlayStation 4 can do as well (just see this Assassin Creed IV video). But after this upcoming generation, I don't see much of a point to keep expanding on the visuals (though if improvement to physics can be done, I'd certainly appreciate it). Games already look really good as it is on a technical scale so I'd like to see a future where the quality of graphics is defined by how it is artistically used, rather than just how technically impressive a game is.

But gaming can still get better even without the games looking prettier on the screen. Aside from potential physical improvements, hitting the ceiling will hopefully increase creativity in games. A large part of what captures people to video games is the technically impressive visuals. Once we hit that point (which might be the upcoming gen), technically impressive visuals are going to lose a lot of their appeal because jaw-dropping visuals will become the norm rather than the rule. This means that developers are going to have to focus more on aesthetically-unique games as well as games that tries out new concepts more often if they are going to sell. Call of Duty's enormous success goes without saying, but it is not going to last forever for Activision.

As for this game, the only console/handheld I plan on actively supporting this gen are the PS4 and 3DS. PlayStation 4 is because Sony seems to be the only company that understands what exactly their fans wants (mostly) and have come a very, very long way from the PS3 and the Nintendo 3DS is because it looks to be yet another great handheld system from Nintendo and well... it has Smash coming out on it so I'm obligated to get it. Will probably get the 3DS first followed by the PS4. Either way, these are the only two consoles I would see myself recommending to consumers.

I'm very disappointed by how the Wii U is turning out. This could have been their best console since the SNES and Nintendo absolutely dropped the ball on this one; now it looks like it will be their worst. I still plan on getting a Wii U, but I don't see many games I'm interested in coming out for that platform, so I won't get it until near the end of the lifespan. It's so sad to see the Wii U turn out like this because as someone who used to be a massive Nintendo fan, I really wanted to love this system, but Nintendo is just not doing their job. The 3DS and Wii U will likely be the last Nintendo consoles I buy and I see myself buying modern games for the PlayStation/PC.

I don't think I'll be getting the Vita as I am not interested in the platform. Microsoft has crossed the point of no return with the Xbox One because what they tried to pull on consumers was unacceptable and is unworthy of respect.

I have to agree with graphics. CG graphics are reaching a point where they look like live movies, and in game graphics are pretty close to that. As for the Wii U, though, isn't it a bit early to tell whether or not it will fail? And I doubt it will be the worst console (in terms of sales: Nobody can agree on what the worst console is thanks to nostalgia fights).

Everybody knows the worst Nintendo console is the Virtual Boy.

How could I forget that?

MechaGS

I can guarantee the Wii U will do fine. People don't buy Nintendo consoles for third-party titles anymore, they buy for the first and second-party titles and Nintendo have the best franchises out there.

If by any chance it does all go to bits for Wii U, Nintendo can just dig into their $10 billion stored away and buy in the best talent. They're pretty shrewd business people. :)

There's always rumours floating about that Nintendo are going to buy back Rare and (more importantly) the rights to Banjo-Kazooie. Anyone who's seen Game Grumps' Grant Kirkhope special know that Kirkhope (ex-Rare employee and B-K series composer) would like to get all the ex-Rare guys who made B-K back together, go to Nintendo and start making a Banjo-Threeie for Wii U.

If that actually happened, I'd personally love a Conker's Bad Fur Day 2. :D

We need the return of slap-stick games that are just truly funny for the sake of actually being funny and not tack-ons like Saints Row, etc.
