So in my travels across the vast interwebz, I have stumbled upon this kickstarter for a new game.

I don't really know who the dev is or anything, they're all new names to me, but the concept designs, the premise, and the idea behind gameplay seem really cool. That and I like ninjas. And Cyborgs. And Cyborg Ninjas. Also, the game is planned to have a stealth mechanic, and sounds like it'll be really stealth heavy.

So yeah, just posting to see if anyone here interested. Or would like to help spread the word about it? I would donate if I had any money left, but sadly, I put all money into MN9. XD

So the best I can do is talk about it to people. Which is what I'll do. So, what do you guys think?

I seen this the other day on my travels. I pointed it out a few people and we're going to keep an eye on it but I'm Kickstartered out for now, especially with xmas and other stuff coming up.

One thing that worried me though was this line:

QuoteThis option is region specific.(North America is coming first and EU and Asia will be announced as it becomes available)

Does that mean it won't release worldwide at the same time like every other Kickstarter? Seems a rather random line to have in there.

I dunno, somehow this project seems to me like they were reading a script from a "How to be a Game Designer." with what they wanted in a game. I dunno if it will succeed funding, but I think they are over estimating all the things they want to include in the game. Just the shear amount of lore they are implementing, are they even considering the disk usage?

Quote from: "http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1713834306/reborn"Digital: REBORN game voucher enabling you to be able to download the game when it is available on your choice of platform all subject to availability of the platform based on the achieved stretch goals. This option is region specific.(North America is coming first and EU and Asia will be announced as it becomes available)

And yeah, that section has me worried too. If they meant the physical copies, I can understand, since you need to make a contract with a shipping company to send all the copies to respective backers (since they are located in the USA). But it's in the Digital section, which should not matter where the game is. As long as you can connect to http://store.steampowered.com , you should be able to download your Windows OS copy.  Be sure to ask that question them for the big AMAA stream Tommorow @ 12:00pm to 1:00pm (Pacific Time Zone - UTC-08:00):

PS

And that ending on the promo video shocked me. Why would the CEO play Ninja Gaiden, when there's work to be done? Should he be testing the alpha release instead, or at the least show code or concept art? Jimmies touched.

While I do agree that there was a lot wrong with the kickstarter and how they were going about it, I do feel as if they have a clear goal in mind with concrete ideas. The concept is good and I think it has the chance to become something, but rather, their kickstarter page shows they aren't really good at selling their ideas.

I myself like to look at the big picture and at the deep stuff, so I do feel like it has some potential, and we won't know if it'll reach it unless we give it the chance to show itself off. But the head of that project doesn't seem like he knows exactly how to get people interested in it and how to show off in all the right ways.

As for the rewards thing, ehh, I'm not giving too much thought to that. Mostly because I'm not really sure how it affects anything in the long run.

EDIT:

Just noticed, but it seems the kickstarter has been cancelled. Looks like they were getting a lot of feedback, and they decided to rework the campaign, and relaunch it next month. This is pretty good, considering that it means they saw all the issues with their campaign and are going to fix those. Maybe make it more attractive, and fix the rewards section. And when they relaunch, they mentioned having a bit more to show.

While I'm happy to see that they've taken this back to the drawing-board and will be attempting to fund the game at a later time. I still think they need to go past November and December to get decent numbers.

The consoles hit next month, there's a lot of people saving for xmas and the like so there's not going to be much Kickstarter love over the festive period. They need to push the Kickstarter to January or February considering it sounds like they don't need the money in a hurry.

I'm still interested and I'm looking forward to seeing how they "redux" the concepts but personally; I wouldn't launch a Kickstarter within the next two months. It's funding suicide.

It's too bad this was canceled, it sounds like it would have been a interesting game for sure. But since they are thinking about relaunching it, I may keep an eye on it and possibly donate some money.
