When people ask about the mod-edits and warnings, it's not derailing the subject, it's a very good question.  People have no idea what they are being punished for, that's why they ask questions.  I do not see why she has a problem with this.

I believe it's more like she doesn't want to deal with it. I mean, I can understand if she's being inundated with e-mails asking for information and from her recent posts it's easy to tell she's becoming aggrivated by the whole thing.

To be clear though, I'm not standing up for her in any way. I do think they need a more transparent way of dealing with people and their transgressions but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon because there's no effective way of doing so.

I could say it's another failure of Drupal that's causing this nonsense but I'm getting tired of citing the damned system if I'm honest. If I was a mod there and being asked why people were being banned, etc; I'd probably have gotten angry because the tools ain't there to show people and collating all of that info to their e-mail addresses takes time. It should have an infractions system at least.

It's the proverbial rock vs. a hard place and no clear signs of a winner yet.

Yeah, considering that normally with most bans on forums there is something sent to your email saying why you were banned and telling you why, usually on most forums there is an appeals system where you can challenge the ban itself to see if it was justified.  However in this case, if you don't know why you were banned, you cannot challenge it and so you cannot appeal it.  Like there there is such a process on the official forums anyways, I mean that system is so backwards it hurts.

Honestly, if we knew man I think we'd all be a bit better off.

As it stands, I think they're denying because they can't be bothered to gather the info and inform people. Simple facts are that on forums like this one, you give someone a warning and it'll show on their account with the offending post and a small note, they can't do that.

If they're just against it in general (forgetting the web short-comings) then they're just not interested since they already have what they need from the offending user.

Recently, she said she wasn't allowed to go into any great detail for people so I'd say it's the latter option they've gone for here. Either way it's pretty messed up in both cases.

even on 4cahn you can appeal a ban if it's great than 2 days

this system is bum, we just gotta push this site as a healthy environment for the community

Quote from: Quattro Bajeenawonder how they would react, the community if someone told them the forum staff was lying to them about the difficulty of installing the modules

I mentioned it a while back when all of the controversy over forum features began and people didn't seem to take the info on at that point. While a dedicated topic might get some attention, I think it'd just be "handled" like everything else over there.

It would be a shame if the reason that the forum is in it's present state was because someone doesn't have the time or lacks the knowledge, yet isn't willing to deligate to someone who has both.

ud from what we've seen it's color-by-numbers in terms of how simple it is to install these modules

I'm sure the game's going to turn out fine and just about how we expect it to be. As for the community... yeah.

Didn't she say comcept has a policy where they don't tell you why you're banned ever? Seriously what kind of policy is that for a forum?

One that leads to it being a ghost town.

TheRaven

Yeah that's pretty fucked up... someone doesn't know proper forum etiquette at all. The staff should only ban those who break rules, and should explain in full why the member was banned. They should not abuse the powers that they were entitled to on the board.
