email? please the email that's shared with the brain damaged portions of the dina defenders? yeah that's great

so we have a broken community that doesn't want to fix itself, mods with as much pull and common sense as a toddler and to top it off

>send it to comcept

oh boy dev/null where my email will rot until I basically pester the ever living fuck out of you people to check yes I clearly want my concerns thrown in the junk pile. I'll be looking at consumer fraud laws if you need me, I'm pretty sure all this horse shit comcept is pulling has tripped at least  ONE of the shitty US laws, I know for a fact it's already fell flat on it's face after falling over a few EU consumer laws

I guess that's as close to an answer as I'm going to get. Anyway, thanks for your time.

It means that I'll do what I have to, if I have to.

And since you think this is an important issue, I can approach the topic. Keep in mind however that you shouldn't expect anything to come of it. There is likely a better chance of Capcom giving the rights to Mega Man to Inafune. Not selling, giving.

Quote from: BSOThat accountability comes with that option for discussion. If for some reason they think that a moderator has overstepped their boundaries, they can send in an e-mail to comcept. That doesn't mean they'll agree with them, but not agreeing doesn't automatically equate to not being listened to.

I don't mean to jump in here last-minute, but your comment about emailing comcept is, in my mind, a worthless option at this point.

I have sent over 10 emails to MightyNo9@comcept.jp\over the last two months, and NEVER received a response ONCE. I had to come bother you, the unpaid volunteer moderators, to find out that I was banned for being upset at being told to 'enjoy some lucky charms' after asking Brian Leon to chill on the blatantly racist Irish remarks. I know you weren't a moderator at the time of that occasion, but it really bothers me that I had to go to you in the first place.

He went un-warned and un-banned for that, by the way. He's been one of Dina's biggest white knight supporters since day one. I find it laughable that people think I'm crazy for seeing that as a biased decision.

As far as I am concerned, sending emails for Dina to delete, or sending emails to a non-official channel is a waste of time. What you're asking is for us to 'Write our Senator' and be quietly ignored and continue the illusion of nothing being wrong, instead of allowing for a public forum where people can openly discuss grievances and become stronger as a community for it.

To quote Princess Leia, "The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers."

I think there's a lot of wisdom there.

I got that, it just was (and still is) kind of a vague answer. I know those are generally good practice for PR purposes, it's just not clear where you stand exactly. I'm satisfied enough with the answer you gave, though. I know you have your own circumstances and I appreciate your attempt to clear things up regardless. It shows you give a damn, and that's something Comcept needs more of...

This isn't about any specific company policy so much as the fact that you can't take a boatload of cash from people and demand they conform to the standards of your culture. The matter we were discussing is just the most recent/common/significant one, but it's an overall mindset that Comcept needs to change if they want to be a part of a market outside of their own region. If you want someone's money, you have to make them want to give it to you... and they did a good job doing that with the Kickstarter, obviously. If they continue in the direction they've been going, though, they're going to continue to lose customers. The rate of which will depend on how well they adapt...

Remember, this is all about PR, which is important for any company. Enforcing your own cultural standards on others is just plain bad for business, and bad practice in general. If you pass along anything at all, pass along that.

I can only give so much advice for this. One is that sending a large number of e-mails about the same issue isn't really going to help get a reply. Two, you have to stay polite about it. I'm not saying you weren't as I wouldn't know, but it goes a long way. Three, don't go in trying to make demands. Voice your concerns, and explain why you have them, but don't tell people that they HAVE to do what you want or else they're being horrible and biased.

The e-mail issue, if they were all about your ban, was likely because at first they weren't able to tell people. Through some discussion we were able to come to an agreement on it and tell people some details, as the most important part of this is to let people know what the problems were. Also, we've been trying to move issues of moderation more towards the moderator e-mail for whatever we can. Dina has been doing a great deal less when it comes to moderation over the last month, I could probably count the number of times that she's handled a post or thread herself on one hand.

If you sincerely believe that a moderator has behaved in an inappropriate matter, send a single e-mail to both the moderation e-mail, and the comcept e-mail. I may not have the authority for anything at that level, but I do have the ability to talk with the other moderators to try and fix anything that really is an issue.

As a final note, we don't share information about warnings publicly.

Except Dina did mention Char was banned in Hmmmletsbrainstorms Ask Some Stuff thread. Kinda sending mixed signals here. Just pointing that out.

your surprised? dina bending the rules is nothing new, I mean remember the whole thing with the no advertising rule, then dina's friend who just so happens to be working for playsims, the company in charge of western relations for la mulana 2 comes along and blatantly advertises on the forum, no ban was given or an infraction, instead WE GOT A RULE CHANGE TO ALLOW KICKSTARTERS

personally I don't give two shits if my demands were met and emailed to me, I'm going to make them public anyways because it is the focus of MY ban, and quite frankly this bullshit is the first I've ever encountered where a user can't learn of his ban, people are ok with this and it's sickening

The fact that a ban itself happened isn't exactly private, and by forum design is able to be looked up. It was also relevant to the question of why the thread was edited.

Seeing as how there is no strike-through on the name of user group under it that says "banned", the only way of telling for sure is to access their profile page and see if you get an "access denied" page. So I would say the fact bans themselves happen are fairly private unless you go looking.

Also, I don't recall a question being asked in the thread. Dina told him that char was banned and therefore can't answer questions in his AMA because she deleted it so she edited his OP. If there was a question before that I must have missed it but as the thread stands now it looks like she posted it of her own accord to make a point, rather than to clear up confused forum members. Sounds like public shaming to me but, whatever.

but spider the comcept forum staff themselves had said public shaming is a no no, remember when people called out the moderation team to do something about simsteven's blatant rule breaking? and nothing was done except dina saying that they don't do public shaming?

why that'd be hypocritical of them

You mean, like Renzokuken's public warnings that the world saw?:

Well, technically those are warnings, not a public ban.

Yes, we don't share information. That doesn't mean that they aren't given, particularly early on before the e-mail started to be used more for that.
